How to Remove White Haze From a Wood Table

Water damages wood surfaces very quickly, causing a white haze, white spots, or even warping and cracking. Water spills and moisture that condenses on the bottoms of glasses or vases may cause damage. Place coasters under glasses, and a plate or tablecloth under flower vases to protect wood surfaces. Try one of several methods to remove white haze. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Paste Wax Method

    1

    Apply a dime-sized amount of paste wax to the stain with a soft cloth.

    Rub the stain lightly with 4/0 steel wool. The white haze should recede.

    Buff the area with a soft cloth to polish it and remove excess paste.

Camphorated Oil Method

    Moisten a clean cloth with camphorated oil.

    Rub the cloth on the haze.

    Wipe the area immediately with a dry cloth. Camphorated oil left on the wood may damage the finish.

Ammonia Method

    Mix 3 drops household ammonia with 1 cup hot water.

    Dip a piece of cheesecloth in the solution, and wring it out until it is damp.

    Rub the damp cloth on the haze. Dry the table immediately with a clean cloth.
