It has finally happened. Your little girl has turned into a teenager. These days, you might feel like she spends too much time in the bathroom putting on makeup and styling her hair. If your daughter's primping and polishing is keeping other family members out of the bathroom, it may be a wise idea to get a vanity table for her bedroom. This will give her a place to store her makeup, hair accessories and jewelry. When you choose a vanity table for your teenage daughter, make sure it fits her personality and style. Does this Spark an idea?
Stick with Old Fashioned
If your daughter enjoys the antique look, give her an old-fashioned vanity table. Look for one with a faded white paint. You may be able to find one that was painted this way on purpose. A single, round mirror at the back of the table is traditional for an old vanity table. The table should include a drawer or two at the front to hold her accessories. Finish the look with a wooden stool painted with the same faded paint and carved in the same style.
Design a Modern Vanity
Your teenage daughter might be into a more modern style. A column of drawers on the side, or even on both sides, will give her more storage space. A flat desk area between them will serve as the table. For a more modern mirror, find a mirror framed in a bold color. Geometric shapes are often used in modern designs. Find a square mirror and mount a second round mirror over the top. Adding designs or decals to the mirror will add a personal touch to your teenager's vanity. You can even add extra mirrors on the sides, which will allow her multiple viewpoints to admire her work. Provide a round, cushioned ottoman for her to use as a stool.
Paint it Her Favorite Color
Your daughter might love a specific color, or her room might be decorated in a particular color scheme. Let her choose a color for her vanity that complements her room and her style. If she's into opposites, an orange vanity can add flare and personality to a room with blue walls. If she likes tranquility more, a white or natural wood vanity will help create a Zen atmosphere in that same blue bedroom. Let your teen be creative, and allow her personality to really shine through when you choose the color of her vanity.
Organize to Fit Her Needs
What is inside your teenager's vanity is just as important as how it looks. If makeup is her passion, help her set up drawers that allow her to organize her eyeshadow, lipstick and blush. Try creating different compartments for each type of cosmetic, so she can easily find what she is looking for. If your daughter loves her hair more than anything, her vanity should have enough space to organize her clips, hair ties, hairspray and curling irons. You may even want to provide a jewelry organizer so she can always find her favorite accessories.
