How to Decorate Your Living and Dining Room in White, Teal Green and Cream

The cool but attention-getting shade of teal combined with bright white and soft cream is an attractive color scheme for the living room or dining room; if these two areas of your home meld, the hue theme will look great in both spaces in the form of drapery, furniture and accent items. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Decorating the Living Room

    1

Paint the walls white and add cream stripes to the accent wall to create a neutral but monochromatic look. Paint the paneling in a teal color to break up the white and add a demure hue contrast.

    2

Install cream-colored blinds on the windows, and add teal curtains to directly mix the brighter and subdued color in the decorative theme together.

    3

Add a teal sofa and loveseat to the living room, as they will pop against the white and cream walls. Add ivory and off-white throw pillows to both furniture pieces and arrange a white throw blanket on the sofa.

    4

Purchase cream-colored end tables for either side of the sofa with a distressed wood look. Choose pieces with bronze or silver handles, or paint the wooden knobs on the end tables the same shade of teal as the couch.

    5

Position a white area rug directly in front of the sofa and add a white coffee table. Add a teal ceramic shallow dish to the center of the table and fill it with potpourri to add more color and a pleasant scent to the living room.

Decorating the Dining Room

    6

Paint the accent wall in the dining room space teal. If the living and dining rooms are combined, the teal shade will add more visual appeal while sticking to the theme, and is a sound complement to the white and cream living room accent wall.

    7

Purchase a cream dining room set. Paint the head chairs a shade of green that complements the dining room accent wall.

    8

Add a teal table runner to the center of the table, and a flower arrangement of cream-colored roses in a silver bowl for a metallic accent that matches all the hues. Or, fill an off-white vase with daisies to give the dining room a cheery feel and a burst of yellow color.

    9

Flank the flower arrangement with silver candle holders and fill the holders with teal and white candles for additional color accents to the dining room decor and optional soft lighting.

    10

Hang artwork featuring ocean waves or blue flowers on the dining room accent wall, housed in white frames.
