How to Use Tablecloths As Table Decorations

Whether you have pattern or solid, plastic or fabric tablecloths, you can decorate any table to the style of your choice. Switch between formal and casual settings easily with just a tablecloth. As with any decorating scheme, pair your tablecloth with complementary or contrasting colors for the best effect. Experimenting with color is not your only option, though. You can also decorate a table with other fabrics, including runners and skirts for a dining experience appropriate for any event. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Accent your table with a bold tablecloth. Checkered, floral and solid tablecloths are available in vibrant colors combinations and hues. An ideal way to decorate your table is to use tablecloths alone or with a skirt or runner. Available in silk, satin and polyester, tablecloths range from elegant to casual.

    2

Pair a tablecloth with a table runner. Create a bold style by contrasting dominant solid colors, such as black and white, or create a less contrasting but complementary table using a runner to break up a solid print tablecloth. A perfect decorative scheme, tablecloths and runners are available in a range of colors, styles and fabrics you can use for a casual or formal dining table.

    3

Cut small pieces from a plastic tablecloth roll. Fold each piece into ruffles or shape into a ball, which may require crumpling until the desired shape is achieved. Shape the plastic tablecloth as you would tissue paper to fill bags, vases or glasses. Use for a charming, casual dining table.

    4

Wrap a bundle of flowers in strips of old tablecloths or fold a small tablecloth into quarters, and use to line the bottom of a basket. Place the flowers in the basket or adorn the basket with petals.
